The caretaker chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, ward7 Rundele Hon.Dr. Daniel Agbovu, has tasked Christians faithfuls on preserving the unity and pursuing the peace needed by the nation for growth and cohesion , as they mark the 2020 Christmas celebration.
the CTC chairman urged Christians to ” use the opportunity provided by this particular Christmas season and public holidays to reflect on how the nation can utilise the virtues and ideals of their religious faith to bear on the maintenance of national peace and unity’.
He noted that this year’s celebration is unique in many ways and calls for greater sacrifices because of the global challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and attendant social changes.
The statement further reads, ” Instructively, since the defining purpose of Christmas is to celebrate the sacrifices of selflessness and obedience of Jesus Christ, it behoves on our Christian brothers and sisters to sacrifice their time and other resources in our collective efforts to stamp-out the killer COVID-19. Adherence to health guidelines in worship centres and social gatherings must not be compromised, if the teachings of Jesus Christ must be respected.
“There will be no doubt that we will make greater progress as a nation if we collectively live in accordance to the teachings of our religious beliefs, including the willingness to make personal sacrifices anchored on the fear of God”, he added.
While congratulating members of the Christian faith on the Christmas celebration, considered the new year celebrations around the world, Dr. Daniel reminded party faithfuls of CRA commitment in providing a purposeful leadership that will see the party overcome her challenges in no distant time.
Furthermore, he enjoined Christians in Rundele, Emohua and the state at large to continue to believe in the Nigeria project as he tasked them not to relent in fervent prayers for the realization of the vision of our founding fathers.
Wishing you all things bright and beautiful! May you have the gladness of Christmas which is hope, the Spirit of Christmas which is peace, and the heart of Christmas which is love.
May you be blessed with wonderful friends and a season filled with celebration.
