Following the wave of awareness for participation in the forthcoming APC Membership Registration/Revalidation Exercise (which takes off on January 25, 2021) sweeping across the entire country, the South-South APC Caretaker Committee Zonal Secretary, Mr. David Okumgba, has insisted that boosting the membership portfolio of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a sure bet to coasting home to victory in the 2023 general elections.
David Okumgba spoke Friday in Okrika, when he attended a crucial Stakeholders’ Meeting in his LGA. While thanking members of the Party in the LGA for keeping faith with the APC under the able leadership of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in the South-South geopolitical zone, Okumgba charged leaders and party stalwarts at all levels to champion the course of identifying and reaching out to potential members; mostly the indigenes/residents at the grassroots sympathetic to the APC, with a view to wooing them into the Progressives’ fold. He acknowledged the fact that political party strength is a measure of its membership and ideological quotient.
Speaking further, he said: “Politics is a game of numbers and numbers now count in our political system, since the inception of President Buhari led administration. As such, our people must be encouraged to come all out to register or revalidate their membership”.
The APC party chieftain, equally pleaded with party members in the LGA to continue to rally round the Minister of Transportation and hinted that the political success of the Minister must be a top priority in the daily thoughts and prayers of his followers. According to him “Our leader, the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi needs the prayers of every party faithful and well meaning Nigerians now than ever before; as the battle waged against him can only be fought and won by God through consistent prayers and support”.
On the need for supporters to be mindful of the second wave of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic, Okumgba noted that the proper use of face masks, shields, regular washing of hands with application of hand sanitizers, as well as social distancing appear to be the escape routes available to Nigerians at this trying moment. He however urged the people to be more prayerful to God, for a lasting solution to the deadly virus.
The leader of the party in the LGA, Elder David .D. Alabere, in his opening remarks, charged leaders & party faithfuls to redouble their efforts, mostly as it borders on rebuilding the party for a stronger outing, saying there was no alternative to installing an APC led government at all levels in 2023.
In the same vein, the CTC LGA Chairman of the Party, Engr. T.S.B Ibuluya, advised party faithfuls to rest assured of a better and result-oriented leadership of APC from the national to ward levels. He encouraged party men and women to put all hands on deck towards repositioning the party for resounding victory. Engr. Ibulaya, also inaugurated a Contact and Mobilization Committee, from the LGA to the Unit levels for the sole purpose of achieving a successful party registration/revalidation exercise.
Critical stakeholders and other APC party leaders in Okrika, who were physically present at the well attended meeting, were unanimous in their resolve to queue behind the Barr. Isaac Ogbobula led State Caretaker Committee and charged all old and intending members of the Party to boycott the forthcoming Local Government Council polls, in line with the directives of the Party leadership at the state level.
