The need for People to keep maintaining good hygiene and various precautionery measures rolled out by the World Health Organization, National Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) and the Federal Government in order to keep staying safe amidst COVID19 pandemic cannot be overemphasized.
It was on this premise that The Rivers State Office of The Public Complaints Commission(NIGERIAN OMBUDSMAN) in conjunction with The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices sensitized men and Officers of Okehi Police Division in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State on Sunday, 24th of May, 2020.
They equally donated face masks and other Personal Protective Equipment to the Police Division.
While handing over the Face Mask to the Divisional Police Officer CSP Anthony Offuna, the Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission,Hon.Marshall Israel thanked the DPO for curtailing armed robbery, kidnapping and Cultism in Etche LGA through proactive Community Policing and urged him to continue his good work.
Like the Medical Personnel, Police Officers are also in the front line in the fight against COVID19. Beyond that, they are closer to the people because they keep coming with one Complaints or the other and it’s important they put on PPE especially face mask.
Amb. Yusuf Abdulahi Idi (DSP) is the Rivers State Coordinator, Police Campaign Against Cultism And Other Vices(POCACOV).
POCACOV is an initiative of IGP Mohammed Adamu mni, aimed at curbing the menace of cultism and other vices through counseling and reorientation.
Police work goes beyond arrest and detention of suspects. The IG believes that with proper reorientation and enlightenment, we can recover our young people from the street and set them at a pedestal for greatness.
DSP Yusuf Abdullahi Idi is the commander anticultism covering Ikwere, Etche, Emohua, Ahuada etc. The result oriented and passionate Police Officer has done well in calming His Area of Operation including Eastwest road and Owerri road through coordinated operations cum community policing.
Dr. Michael West of Siat Nigeria Limited who also came with the Amb Bulus Emmanuel enlightened stakeholders at the venue on the essence of the visitation which is anchored on the observation of good Hygiene and strict adherence to various precautionery measures rolled out to contain and curtail the spread of Covid 19 and the need to continue to stay safe.
Dr. West took time to educate the police officers and stake holders more on COVID19 and how it can be prevented through social distancing, use of sanitizers, washing of hands etc.
While receiving the face mask, The Divisional Police Officer CSP Anthony Offuna thanked Hon. Marshall Israel and DSP Yusuf Abdulahi Idi for remembering Okehi Police division and assured them that it will be distributed to every Police Officer in the Division.
The DPO also thanked the Federal Commissioner, Marshall Israel for donating borehole to the Division.
