The Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has shown great support to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital in the fight against Covid-19. A timely intervention; it came at a time the Hospital needs all the support it could get from good spirited individuals and organisations alike.
Today, the Management of the Hospital led by the Chief Medical Director, Professor Henry Ugboma received the following Medical Equipment: Ventilator (1), Oxygen Concentrator (4), PPE (100), Sanitizers (50), Rapid text (1000), and logistic support which will be made available on request during the period before the pandemic will be contained – 36 seater coaster bus (1), Fast Intervention Marine Vessels (within Onne-Portharcourt) (2), Ambulance (1).
Leading the NIMASA delegation and representing the Director General Dr. Bashir Jamuh, is the Acting Eastern Zonal Director Wamyil Nadabo, who came in company of other officials of the agency, while briefing UPTH Mangement , he said the donation is in demonstration of the agency’s social corporate responsibility and her awareness to community service.
Professor Ugboma pleased with the visit says ‘ I sincerely appreciate the leadership of NIMASA for remembering us, because amongst other organisations who had made promises to support , except Medical Professionals it is only NIMASA that has brought this magnitude of support ‘ .
He called for more partnership from NIMASA as it will foster more development in the Hospital. Of mention too was the role Professor kennedy Wariso played in linking the partnership with NIMASA that has yielded the gains of the support now received from the Agency. The team hosted at the Board Room was thereafter led to the Hospital Administrative enterance where the items were received formally with photo sessions. The visiting team was received by the CMD Professor Henry A.A.Ugboma , who was accompanied by the Chairman MAC, Professor P.C. Stanley, Head of Procurement Mr T. Ogolo, Public Relations Officer, Elabha A.Meni amongst others
